Surfing And Diving Holidays In Bali

Bali is a lovely Indonesian island that offers culture, history, great beaches and enviable winter heat – but for those seeking Bali surfing and diving holidays, this is perhaps one of the best places to visit.

Discover some of the finest surfing and diving spots in the world; needless to say, Bali surfing is absolutely perfect whether you surf reef at Uluwatu, Bingin or Balangan and if you are a beginner you can learn this skill in Kuta and Seminyak – a little something suited to all levels.

There’s also Sanur Canggu and Nusa Dua – plenty of surfing spots to keep you entertained; the problem is though, which one to choose.

Riding the waves in Bali:

  • Uluwatu is situated at the southern tip of Bali and with improved roads you can drive all the way to the Warungs on a sealed road.
  • Bingin Beach – an exquisitely lovely beach offering vistas of the Indian Ocean with wonderful waves that will prove to be one of the most demanding surfing points enjoyed by surfers from all over the world. The waves here are huge and powerful and especially challenging – perfect for all those adrenaline junkies.
  • Balangan Beach – this beach presents visitors with a long stretch of white sand that stretches for more than two hundred metres. Balangan Beach is a lovely place for professional and experienced surfers alike. Here you can enjoy breath-taking sunsets and views of the Indian Ocean that seem to go on forever.
The beach is located in the white stone hill area of Pecatu, Southern Bali, ensconced in the Uluwatu Peninsula; a surfing beach extremely popular with tourists.

Beginners will prefer to learn to surf on:

  • Kuta - Kuta claims being the best beach in Bali; this is a five-mile expanse of spotless sand that is a magnet for surfers and sunbathers alike. When the surfing’s done and the sun has vanished, Kuta comes to life with its kinetic nightlife.

Remember that it is crucial to select the right beach for your level of ability; you don’t want to be caught in a gigantic barrel when you’ve only just picked up a surf board for the very first time; furthermore, Kuta’s early morning baby waves aren’t going to dare you if you’re hoping to compete at the next Oakley Pro Bali competition.

Diving in Bali:

  • Divers of all levels are able to enjoy the incredible diving that a holiday in Bali has to offer.
  • The best diving sites for beginners are found in Amed, Pedang Bai and Palau Menjangan which are perfect spots to dive as they have either extremely light or no current whatsoever.
  • Experienced divers will find what they need at Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Candidasa

It is not only divers and surfers that enjoy the incredible underwater life in Bali – you can now walk a couple of meters off the shore armed with flippers and snorkel to enjoy the myriad sea life – here you will be able to relish the bright, colourful fish as well as the myriad marine life just waiting to be discovered – the best part of all is that the coral is very close to the shoreline, something every holiday package should include seeing..

The ocean current around Bali has a tendency to be rather strong at times, therefore diving and surfing holidays in Bali need to be undertaken with great care.
