BAGGAGE
Checked baggage
The free baggage allowance on board Emirates flights varies according to the class of ticket as well as the route and may be calculated by pieces of luggage or weight. Please note, baggage exceeding the free allowance will be charged for.
 
•Economy Class – luggage not exceeding 30 kg.
•Business Class – luggage not exceeding 40 kg.
•First class – luggage not exceeding 50 kg.
•Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold or Silver members may be entitled to additional allowances. 
 
Please note
Different baggage rules apply for flights with destinations in North or South America.
•North America – two bags not exceeding 23 kg each in Economy Class, and two bags not exceeding 32 kg each in Business and First Class.
•South America – two bags not exceeding 32 kg each in all classes.
•Interline baggage policy – flights that are on the same ticket as your Emirates flights, but are operated by another carrier, may have different baggage allowances to Emirates. And, if your first flight leaves from North America (and is not an Emirates flight), different baggage rules apply. Visit the Emirates website for details.
•Baggage allowance is calculated from departure to arrival destination. The baggage allowance on either side of a stopover flight may vary.

Hand luggage
•Economy Class – one piece (either a handbag or a laptop bag) not exceeding 7 kg (15 lb). 
•Business & First Class – two pieces (one briefcase plus one handbag or one garment bag) not exceeding 7 kg (15 lb) each.

Special baggage
•Passengers with disabilities are entitled to some additional baggage allowances, free of charge.
•Passengers travelling with infants (0 - 2) are entitled to additional baggage allowances. 
On any route that includes North and South America – one piece of additional baggage not exceeding 23 kg (50 lb).
On any route not including North or South America – on piece of additional baggage not exceeding 10 kg (22 lb).
Passengers may also bring one carry cot or collapsible stroller as a carry on item or as complimentary checked baggage.
•Sports equipment exceeding your normal baggage allowance will be charged as excess baggage. Some items, like ski equipment, incur additional charges. 
•While Emirates accepts musical instruments for carriage, an additional fee is levied if it exceeds the normal baggage allowance and if it exceeds certain dimensions.

Restrictions
Dangerous goods

Transporting liquids
Restrictions on the transportation of liquid, aerosols and gels (LAGs) now apply to all passengers boarding from or transiting through Dubai International Airport and many other international airports. Some countries have additional checks on LAGs, sometimes including duty free liquid goods. Visit the Emirates website for details on how to transport duty-free liquid goods.
 
The packaging and transportation requirements are as follows:
•LAGs must be stored in 100 ml containers and then packed in a 20 cm x 20 cm transparent, re-sealable plastic bag.
•One bag is allowed per passenger and must be shown at airport security.
•Medication, baby products and special dietary products are exempt, as are some duty free purchases.
 
CHECK IN
•Check in for flights on Emirates opens 3 hours before departure and closes 1.5 hours before departure. 
•Passengers need to go through security no later than 1 hour before departure.
•Boarding begins 45 minutes before departure and closes 20 minutes before departure.
There are additional check in counters for passengers flying to the US as well as bag drop counters for passengers who have checked in online or at a self-service kiosk.
 
Online check in
•Quick and convenient, online check in opens up to 24 hours before a flight, for almost every Emirates destination. 
•Once you’ve checked in, choose your seat and then either print your boarding pass or download a mobile boarding pass to your phone.
•Head straight to a bag drop counter to check in your luggage or go directly to security if you only have hand luggage.
•Avoid queues and check in at a self-service kiosk where you can obtain your boarding pass hassle free.
