Discovering Paradise: Our Journey Through Mauritius’ Top Resorts

by | May 17, 2024 | Travel Blogs, Uncategorized

I recently checked out a bunch of hotels in Mauritius and let me tell you, they were all amazing! There’s truly something for everyone.

Here’s a quick breakdown of each property and what I loved about them.

4* Mauricia Beachcomber Resort & Spa

Mauricia is a fantastic entry-level 4-star hotel located in Grand Bay. It’s perfect for travellers who want to shop at local malls or supermarkets like Super U, and enjoy the vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene. It’s also convenient for business travelers, being only about 25 km from the capital, Port Louis.

The relaxed atmosphere here is a big plus. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, each overlooking the pool or Grand Bay. The food is great, the drinks flow at the bar with a stunning view, and there’s even an underground nightclub open three times a week. If you’re into sports, there’s a gym, tennis courts, and various water sports right on a nice beach where you can stroll around the bay.

This resort is ideal for couples, honeymooners, business travelers, or anyone looking for an affordable 4-star hotel in the heart of Grand Bay.

4* Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Rest & Spa

Just a bit outside Grand Bay, Canonnier is another 4-star gem, especially great for families. This resort is unique with its spa built into a Banyan tree and historic remnants of old colonial forts and cannons.

The rooms have a fresh, beachy vibe with handy USB charge points next to the beds. The food is delicious, especially at Le Navigator, a sea-view restaurant perfect for romantic dinners. While the beaches are small and sometimes a bit corally, the views and character of the resort more than make up for it.

We loved the putt-putt course, nearby dive sites, and the newly refurbished kids’ club with tons of activities. This hotel is great for families and couples looking for a good 4-star property with lots to do and close to Grand Bay.

4* Superior Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa

A favorite among families, especially South Africans, Victoria offers a spacious, open feel along the North West coast. Even at full capacity, it doesn’t feel crowded. The kids’ club right on the beach is a big hit, allowing parents to relax while their kids play. Couples will also enjoy the exclusive Victoria for 2 section, where no kids under 18 are allowed.

The long, wide beach is perfect for water sports like snorkeling, water skiing, and stand-up paddling. With four themed restaurants, there’s plenty of dining variety. All the rooms are spacious and sea-facing, which is a huge plus.

4* Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa

Conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport, Shandrani is a top pick for ease of access. It has three beaches, two facing the lagoon and Marine park, and a “wild beach” with waves reminiscent of South Africa’s coastlines.

The lagoon is perfect for water skiing and other water sports, with no need to worry about tides. The marine park is a reserve, offering amazing snorkeling with a chance to see turtles! It’s one of the few 5-star properties offering all-inclusive packages, ensuring no hidden costs and a festive atmosphere, especially around the bar in the evenings.

Shandrani is great for families, couples, and honeymooners.

5* Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

This iconic 5-star resort is simply stunning. As you walk in, you feel like you’ve entered paradise. It boasts some of the best and most up-to-date facilities on the island, including an amazing kids’ club, gym, and luxurious rooms.

The beachfront pool villas are incredible, offering private pools and breathtaking sunset views. The beach is long and perfect for morning walks. With six themed restaurants, you’ll never run out of dining options. This resort has an upscale vibe and is great for couples but also offers plenty for families.

5* Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Located in the quieter, less commercialized South of the island, Paradis is a 5-star favorite. It has one of the longest, widest beaches on the island, a stunning lagoon for water sports, and the breathtaking backdrop of La Morne mountain.

The relaxed and informal atmosphere is a highlight, yet it still offers top-notch services and facilities. The newly decorated rooms are fresh and light, and the beachfront villas are perfect for special occasions. Golf enthusiasts will love the nearby Paradis Golf Club with its scenic course.

We recommend Paradis for families, honeymooners, and couples. There’s something for everyone here.

5* Dinarobin Beachomber Golf Resort & Spa

Another upmarket 5-star property in the scenic, less commercialized South. Dinarobin features some of the longest, widest beaches on the island and a stunning view of La Morne mountain. The colonial feel mixed with modern amenities like a fantastic beach bar makes it special.

All rooms are sea-facing and arranged in crescents with pools in the middle, perfect for relaxing with a book. The resort offers all the usual activities, plus access to Paradis Golf Club, one of the best courses on the island.

Dinarobin is ideal for couples and honeymooners looking for a luxurious, serene getaway.
