City & Temple Tour:

The city of Chiang Mai has a wealth of beautiful and historic Buddhist Wats (temples), and on this tour a visit to the most fascinating Wats is made.
Near the summit of Doi Suthep, is the 600 year old temple of WAT PHRATHAT DOI SUTHEP. After a drive up the mountain’s winding road, the final climb to the site is via an enormous mythological
Nagas (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps (elevators are available). Inside the cloister is an intriguing copper-plated chedi topped by a five-tier gold parasol, which contains partial
relics of Lord Buddha. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds.
Other temples visited on this tour include WAT SUAN DOK, whose large central stupa contains a Buddha relic which supposedly self-multiplied! , and WAT CHEDI LUANG consists of an impressive chedi, originally built in 1411. It reached a height of over 85 meters before it was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. It now reaches a height of only 60 meters. The temple also contains the city pillar.

Night food tour by Tuk Tuk:

A night food tour of Bangkok by TUK TUK is a really great way of seeing the city at night in an unconventional form of transport and taste some of the most amazing food the city has to offer. The tours test out a couple of main course dishes as well as deserts plus visit a pub or two with amazing vistas. You get to visit China Town plus visit the Palace at night which has some spectacular views. One of the highlights was visiting the top place to have Phad Thai in Bangkok where q’s often snake down the street due to its popularity.

Ampawa and Damnoen floating market.

Ampawa  and Damnoen floating markets are about an hour out of Bangkok depending on traffic. Damnoen is probably more popular with travellers given the size and diversity however Amapawa market while maybe a bit smaller is a little less cluttered and a more personal local feel to it. You can travel up and down both canals by long boat sitting side by side with people selling food and various textiles. The other option is to walk alongside the canals through the land based stalls which sell cosmetics, local art and textiles plus an array of restaurants selling some yummy food.

Maeklong Railway Market:

Mae Khlong market is situated about an hour outside of Bangkok and is reached by road. On entering the local village you walk through the throng of  street sellers which are generally promoting fresh food items such as fruit, fresh vegetables, local thai food which can be packaged to take away or a variety of freshly made sweets.

Mae Khlong market is fresh food market situated along the railway tracks that run through the market. The street vendors are based on either side of the tracks and selling anything from fresh vegetables, fruit to locally caught sea food. What makes this market so interesting is that apart from the market being based alongside the tracks an actual train passes through this market 5 times a day!  People browse the different items for sale  and then a 5 minute warning is given and all the sellers quickly pack up all their goods and move outside of the tracks in order for the train to pass through.

Awnings are pulled aside in order to allow the train to pass through the market. It passes through at a relatively slow pace to allow tourists from both the train and on the ground to savour this unique experience.

Bangkok Cycle Tours:

This is the ideal way to tour Bangkok. A bit quicker than walking but not as fast and zooming around in a car. You get to meet the locals of the city and explore some of the lesser known parts of the city. This tour is for everyone and not advanced level of fitness is required.
