It is about 15 minutes from the airport so easy to get to and no getting up at the crack of dawn to make your flight if you are on the other side of the island. The hotel has 3 beaches of which two of them face the lagoon and Marine park and the third is their “wild beach” with a lovely long beach with waves crashing down almost taking you back to the coastlines of South Africa.

The lagoon offers water skiing and other water sports throughout the day and no need to worry about tides etc. All motorized water sports run directly off the jetty, so you also don’t have to take a boat to a platform as with most hotels. The marine park offers a reserve for aquatic life and where fishing is prohibited. This therefore offers some amazing snorkeling where you can even get to see Turtles!

This is a 4-star resort based on the South-East coast of the island and has an almost cult like following! The reason for this is mainly due to its “Serenity package” which basically means that it only comes as an all-inclusive package and one of the only 5-star resortsto offer such a package on the island! All your meals and all your drinks including many premium brands are included making this very popular!

The next benefit of this resort is the 3 beaches it has to offer. Shandrani is placed on the tip of a bay. On the one side of the resort is a lagoon which includes a marine park. You have two beaches on this side, and this is where all the water sportshappen. The other side of the resort offers the “wild Ocean” beach where there is no reef and the surf and beach are similar to what you would find in South Africa.

The water sports, which are held on the lagoon, are offered right from the jetty of the resort so you don’t need to take any boats to the usual platforms as is generally the case with mostother resorts. Due to the lagoon being protected from thenearby airport and mountains, there is little to no wind and the beaches aren’t affected by the tides, thus making it possible to access water sports throughout the day!

Concerns are often raised as to its close vicinity to the airport (approx. 15 minutes) however there are only about 7 or 8 flights a day that fly over and lasting maybe 10 seconds each. We did not find this in any way distracting and the convenience of the resort to the airport, especially on early flights coming in and out, is really appealing.

Finally, the rooms are all sea facing and all refreshingly furnished, spacious and extremely comfortable!

The resort offers a great kids club, 9-hole chip and put golf course and one of the biggest spas within this group of hotels. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from whether it be Buffet or A La Carte and as per all-inclusive you can eat and drink to your hearts delight!

The atmosphere of this resort is friendly, festive and fun and suited to both families, couples and honeymooners!
